Together, the spread of American goldenrod, giant hogweed and other neophytes on areas worthy of protection in the Albula Valley is being combated. During the work, you will have the opportunity to get to know the invasive species better and to learn about the purpose of such operations.

Neophytes are plant species that were only introduced to a region, in this case the European continent, after 1492. Some of these are invasive species that can spread quickly, displace native vegetation and endanger our health. Combating invasive neophytes in landscapes worthy of protection is crucial for the preservation of biodiversity and ecological balance.

In Parc Ela, the spread of invasive species is limited to the valley floor, where further spread has been prevented thanks to consistent control in recent years. To maintain this state, we support local actors and help control invasive species along the Landwasser and Albula rivers, very close to the Landwasser Viaduct.
