The name Origen is Rhaeto-Romanic and means genesis, origin, creation. Accordingly, the programme of the festival is a commitment to the cultural power of a trilingual region which thrives on cultural exchange. The cultural organisation Origen is responsible for the annual Origen Festival of Culture and primarily dedicates itself to the promotion and production of professional contemporary opera.

The cultural house of the future
Technology, research and innovation
The White Tower demonstrates the groundbreaking possibilities of research from computer-aided design, digital fabrication, structural engineering and materials science. The market-ready innovations in these research fields will fundamentally change construction and make it more sustainable. Robotic extrusion processes allow concrete to be selectively applied only where it is structurally needed. This reduces material consumption by half. The new design freedoms allow expressive shapes, the efficient production of one-offs and the elimination of expensive formwork.
Architecture, art and culture
The White Tower of Mulegns is a tribute to the confectioners of Graubünden. It serves as a walk-in installation, intimate concert space and place of cultural mediation. The central design element of the tower consists of a series of 32 branching, 3D-printed columns. Visitors ascend a spiral staircase through a series of colonnades to reach the chamber stage on the top floor. The hall on the top floor of the White Tower has a 45-seat stage and is designed for theater and concerts. The White Tower offers a succession of abstract, atmospherically dense zones conceived as a vertical enfilade. The striking diversity of the tower's forms is reminiscent of the craftsmanship of the master builders of the Baroque era
The lion roars again!
The former flagship of the Surset hotel industry, one of the oldest inns in the canton, has opened its doors wide again. Last Thursday, 6 June 2024, the late-classical jewel was inaugurated with many celebrities, succinct speeches and colourful theatrical moments.
After a four-year, complex and exciting construction period, the Hotel Löwe is coming back to life. The historic hotel sets new standards in the interpretation of historical substance. Restored parquet floors, exposed paintings and original furniture are in a lively dialogue with wallpaper specially created for the Löwe, spectacular textiles and new carpet landscapes.
Spend the night at Hotel Löwe
The kitchen has been open since Monday, 10 June 2024, with sleeping accommodation available from 2 July 2024, before which the hotel can be visited in detail. Origen offers daily guided tours at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., which lead from the wine cellar of the honourable house to the attic, through the princess suites and coachman's rooms. The ticket price for the exclusive tour includes a small meal and travel by public transport from all railway stations and Postbus stops in Graubünden.

Accommodation
The Mulegnser guest books are a source of inspiration. The design of the rooms is reminiscent of the guests' origins and brings the big wide world into the house, as it once did when half of Europe came to the proud house on the Fallerbach. The freshly renovated and individually designed hotel rooms and suites are reserved for hotel guests from 2 July. Other Venues
Origen builds temporary buildings, embedded in the surrounding landscape, which serve as a backdrop. Although the venues vary from year to year, Origen has two parent companies in his home town of Riom.
The medieval castle in Riom and the Clavadeira of Monsieur Carisch, in which the Sontga Crousch barn serves as a winter theater. With the theater in the “Clavadeira”, the festival was given an infrastructure that can be used all year round for the first time.

Wakker Prize for the Nova Fundaziun Origen
The important award is given to the Graubünden cultural institution “Nova Fundaziun Origen” for its exemplary handling of the existing building culture in the mountain village of Riom. It was launched in 2006 and has established a theater business and a festival of national importance and international reputation.
On August 18, 2018, the ceremonial handover of the Wakker Prize 2018 to the "Nova Fundaziun Origen" by the Swiss Homeland Security took place. This is the first time that a civil society organization has received the coveted award.
The café in the Villa Carisch and Restaurant Taratsch
The Taratsch restaurant opens with refined Italian cuisine, while the confectioner works in the Villa Carisch and invites you to coffee and cake in Monsieur Carisch's enchanting world of wallpaper.
The menu in Café Carisch is reminiscent of the large cake castles of the Bündner Kaffeebarone, which worked around the world. The house is open to all interested parties. The café cordially invites all theater-goers. In summer you can also linger in the wonderful garden. Open during the season.

Um die Zuckerbäckerdynastien Jegher und Poltera ranken sich grosse Legenden aus Bordeaux, Innsbruck und Konstantinopel. Auf den Hochebenen rund um das Dorf treiben fabelhafte Feen und kühne Hirten ihr Unwesen. Diese Geschichten wollen wir erzählen. Mit Ausstellungen, Rauminstallationen und kulturhistorischen Vorträgen.
